Vidya's BetterPoints journey to better health

As the Get Active Hampshire programme ends soon we have contacted a few users to share their Get Active story to reflect and celebrate the programme.
Here is Julie's inspiring story:
"I downloaded the BetterPoints app in February this year as I had been losing weight with Slimming World and wanted to build in some decent exercise that would fit into my life. I started walking before breakfast each day and before long the walks extended to the point that I was regularly walking two to three miles each day! I had lost around 5 stone and my wedding was coming up in May so I wanted to make sure I didn’t put anything back on.
Before I knew it, the points started to stack up – it really motivated me into keeping my activity levels up and when there was enough points for rewards, I started to claim some vouchers. As the points mounted, the vouchers came in really handy for helping get my 20 year old son set up in his own little place. I lost count of the number I claimed!
In July, I completed a sponsored Walk For Babies for the Lullaby Trust – in memory of my daughter Annie who I lost in 1993. With my friend and co-worker Mandy, we walked a half marathon along the Solent Way and managed to raise almost £1,000 for the Trust. Thanks to both the weight loss – and of course, the training through the BetterPoints app – I was able to complete the challenge very easily and I was so happy to have given the charity the donation in Annie’s name.
Now I continue to keep the activity going – in fact, I can't stop! The app has been a real motivator and I have really loved the rewards. My final rewards will now be spent on our new home when we get there after Christmas. Thanks BetterPoints!"
